Bright paper banners for a cheerful dining corner

Started decorating last night for Cinco de Marlowe...my girl turns 5 on Friday and it became clear to me a month ago that a party was unlikely. I went ahead with my plan and sourced decorations and I’m glad I did...the house felt so cheerful this morning and she was so happy. If you’re home with kids and you have any kind of festive accessories on hand think about putting them up! We need to be as happy and present in this moment as possible because the future is more uncertain now than ever 🌈❤️🧡💛💚💙💜

Small ceramics bring warmth to a living room

A little bit goes a long way...toward being cheerful, helping small businesses and enjoying your home (important now more than ever!) These are all recent acquisitions from @shopjonesandco and I can speak to the joy they spark for me. Built-in alder shelves for books and collections

📚Styled shelves in a kid space; two of my very favorite things! I designed these shelves (solid alder slabs with a light oil finish) and I’m constantly reworking them based on what my son is into at the moment. Shelves are a great way to showcase collections and add personality (and of course, plants🌿) to a room. Toys in heavy rotation are accessible while vintage children’s books (mine), plants and more delicate objects and art are placed higher up...and just in case your kids are climbers like mine, those shelves are drilled into studs on 3 sides 💪🏻 📸by @nataliepigliacampo .

Thick alder shelves for books, globes and toys

I designed these floating 2” thick solid alder shelves in the kids rooms and guest bath...tons of storage but also a great styling opportunity! The vintage books belonged to me as a kid, the hatchshowprint carnival art is a nod to the spot in ConeyIsland where @coreindustries proposed, vintage globes, and Roman’s favorite @melissaanddougtoys on the bottom shelf for easy access.
