Color studies with Bert and May
How incredible are these sample tiles from @bertandmay ?! This is how they display their custom color options (you can customize/recolor their concrete tiles!?!) and I think they need to be their own design because HOW GORG?! 🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈…the possibilities are endless and give so much creative control to designers and clients, plus their team is wonderful to work with - hop on over to their page @bertandmay to see all the things
A bathroom palette comes together
It’s quite the process to get those pretty photos! Our @concretecollaborative Venice Acier 6x24 tiles were meticulously sealed, measured, mapped out and are now 𝕒𝕝𝕞𝕠𝕤𝕥 completely installed! Once that’s complete we will move to the vanity from @talahome.co and plumbing from @jacloindustries topped with our Bondi sink, also from Concrete Collab! So ready for this space to actually function (𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝕤𝕙𝕠𝕨𝕖𝕣 𝕤𝕥𝕒𝕣𝕥𝕖𝕕 𝕘𝕦𝕤𝕙𝕚𝕟𝕘 𝕨𝕒𝕥𝕖𝕣 𝕚𝕟𝕥𝕠 𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝕣𝕠𝕠𝕞 𝕓𝕖𝕙𝕚𝕟𝕕 𝕚𝕥 𝕗𝕚𝕣𝕤𝕥 𝕥𝕚𝕞𝕖 𝕨𝕖 𝕦𝕤𝕖𝕕 𝕚𝕥!) AND look amazing. Grateful to be working with these gorgeous materials + talented people🩵🤍🧡 and counting the days until it’s 📸 ready !
A Durango kitchen before and after
What a difference the right changes can make! Our Durango clients wanted to “de-brown” their house and the kitchen was their worst offender. The original cabinets were high quality and in great shape but needed a dramatically different look to suit their owners colorful modern Scandinavian taste. We kept about 65% of the existing, created several new pieces to house appliances, bar and coffee stations, painted them the most incredible blue (there is also a pop of yellow on the peninsula), added modern relief tile, fresh white counters, lighting by @schoolhouse , custom shelves, tambour doors , @brizofaucet white plumbing all on top of refinished floors. While we haven’t photographed this ourselves yet (big TY to @adacolme ) we are so delighted with the transformation and couldn’t wait to share (there is so much more you haven’t seen yet!). 𝕆𝕦𝕣 𝕖𝕝𝕖𝕧𝕒𝕥𝕚𝕠𝕟𝕤 𝕒𝕟𝕕 𝕣𝕖𝕟𝕕𝕖𝕣𝕚𝕟𝕘𝕤 𝕤𝕙𝕠𝕨 𝕔𝕝𝕚𝕖𝕟𝕥𝕤 𝕙𝕠𝕨 𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝕤𝕡𝕒𝕔𝕖 𝕨𝕚𝕝𝕝 𝕝𝕠𝕠𝕜 𝕨𝕙𝕖𝕟 𝕔𝕠𝕞𝕡𝕝𝕖𝕥𝕖; there are always some on-site edits but it’s pretty darn close ⚒️📐❤️💛🩵 Did we nail it? (Yes or No)
A softer foundation for a layered living room
Rugs are truly my favorite home category and I tend to go BOLD and build the room on top of that selection…but then I had the opportunity to own this magnificent sectional from Rowe (still pinching myself) and was faced with an unfamiliar problem; how do I find an outstanding rug that is incredible in its subtlety? The universe spoke and @enkay.home found me and now not only did I find the best piece for my home but I’m specifying them for my clients as well and I can’t get enough! The images speak for themselves but spend some time on their site and you’ll see how versatile and special their range of options truly is…and if you are feeling inspired they are offering 15% off to my followers https://bit.ly/3v8b06x or code AP15. Added bonue, we offer virtual consults and can send you samples 🥳
A new personality for a primary bathroom
Soooooo satisfying…primary bathroom peek at our Durango remodel for @adacolme - the space has a completely new personality and vibe! Really excited to document this project but for now, grateful for amazing shots from our clients.
Bathroom renovation in progress
Well, it was calm there for a hot minute…back to crazy reno life starting with unconfirmed bathroom demo this morning and a frantic dash to capture all of the before moments before they were gone. This shower started leaking and had to be shut down before we even moved in so it’s been frustrating AND not cute. Very excited to be collaborating with @concretecollaborative and jaclo and @talahome.co on this space, it’s been a dark, dated and dysfunctional mess for 6 months and we are so ready to make it our own with these incredible sources. We will be keeping you up to date on progress so please follow along #finallyhomeintopanga here🛠️
Deep bedroom colors in Sunset
Big thank you to @sunsetmag for asking me to opine on design trends for 2024; “We’ll see more dark tones, Amy Pigliacampo of Amy Pigliacampo Interiors says. “Aubergine, navy, deep olive, chocolate brown, dark terracotta… we are seeing this in all forms: upholstery, wood tones, wallpaper, paint, etc. I think everyone just got tired of so much white,” she explains. “The design world is cyclical and any time the pendulum swings light, it’s inevitable that it’s going to head back to the dark side at some point. I think it’s reflective of everyone moving on from COVID; we were home a lot and white felt optimistic, fresh and casual. The world is finding its groove again and that means socializing, going out at night, dressing up, and with that comes the push toward something a bit more dramatic and evocative.” - - our #ironicmeetsiconicinbklyn primary bedroom with another stunner from @flavorpaper illustrates this idea perfectly - - but I still always say choose what you love regardless of what’s “in” and “out”.
Botanical wallpaper and a Design Milk feature
Cool little surprise today, my @designmilk interview made their Friday5 Top10 this year! If you wanna get to know me fast, this is THE interview to read; check the link in my bio to review, featuring my #ironicmeetsiconicinbklyn project with lots of @flavorpaper magic
Hill Country interiors in Rue
Just in case you wanted to linger on the images 😘…our #hillcountryunexpected project with @harpersmithphoto (love u!) + @cameronduddy is on newsstands this week! What a crazy ride this one was, culminating in me taking the photos (kitchen + piano shot by @claire_schaper) with phone support by @coreindustries ! Since I’m a total control freak, we usually shoot together with Corey behind the camera but we couldn’t make this one work so 2 weeks before a major MOVE I flew to TX on Mother’s Day and GOT IT DONE (imagine the pressure of taking photos of an amazingly talented pro photographer’s home, Hi Harper 😂)…not sure I’ve ever worked this hard for photos (and I’ve had some intense shoots) but it’s all good because the incredibly awesome @kellilamb_ wanted it for @ruemagazine and my life is complete, Merry Xmas, Happy Birthday ,thank you thank you and bye now💪🏻💥⚡️🔮💫📸🧿❣️
Behind the camera in the Hill Country
Something exciting dropping tomorrow in the Winter Issue of @ruemagazine … our #hillcountryunexpected project with @harpersmithphoto + @cameronduddy where we blurred the lines between photographer and designer; Harper and I played both in the ultimate creative collab. Much thanx to @kellilamb_ for acknowledging this crazy adventure, can’t wait to share my first photography byline and our beautiful work. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Holiday color from day to night
Night and Day…after two years of crazy holiday trips, so happy to have this one at HOME. Excited to 🪺for the next week. What’s your favorite way to BE at home?
Styling a light-filled kitchen with friends
Thinking about our friends @shopjonesandco and @denver_modern @veeelark @ginawhitee @dedalusboulder @rosie_crain @ianwarrenphoto @coreindustries …stumbled upon these great shots from our collab last year and wanted to share again. We all worked our butts off that day and got a crazy amount of content💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻…love this season so much even though it’s intense and exhausting😂…and this kitchen design still holds up pretty well 6 years later.
Camp Altezza in Colorado Homes and Lifestyles
Our @campaltezza project was just published in @coloradohomesmag and we are so thrilled! Big thanks to Alicita Rodriguez for such a great write up and beautiful layout and to @davidlauerphoto @coreindustries and @brandidentitypr …it’s so pretty there this time of year, book your stay, link in bio!
Dark Cotto tile for a kitchen peninsula
Kitchen peninsula got a sweet upgrade this week courtesy of @zia_tile … obsessed with their #cotto series especially the new colors like oscura🖤🤎
A loft bed makes room to play
Sharing some quick iPhone shots from our shoot last week for @oeufnyc . Their new Perch Nest bed really transformed our small space, opening up lots of extra room to play and hang out. A traditional height bunk bed wouldn’t work because of the ceiling fan so this was the perfect solution (and a bit more safe for a crazy 7 year old monkey). The Nest is by far the most well designed loft/bunk on the market and I’ve looked at them all and bought quite a few (and in case you’re wondering they aren’t paying me to say that, I just really adore the brand and their products; note 2 credenzas by Oeuf under the loft too😂) more pro photos to come soon!
Color replaces brown in a Durango living room
What a difference a year can make…these photos are the tiniest peak into the massive remodel we designed in Durango with @adacolme and I’m literally dying to get over there and see everything. The hardest part about remote projects is missing out on half of the experience; design is like 10% of our job but what happens in between the plan and the end of the project is the really amazing stuff. I was so grateful to have the most collaborative GC who pushed his team to do all kinds of things they had never done before; their work and our client’s vision brought this magic to life. So fun to work with folks that are confident in what they love and bold in their choices. There wasn’t a surface we didn’t touch here and I can’t wait to show you everything. ❤️💛💙🤍🇻🇪 (love this sofa so much but have since experienced customer service nightmares so I would steer clear of Floyd)
Designing a space for My Rowe Design
Pinch me! When I was invited to design a space for @rowefinefurniture many months ago I had no idea what I was in for (mind you the design deadline was 2 weeks after our move🤯)?!?? My biggest goal in 2023 was to “say yes!” so here we are and what an incredible YES this one turned out to be. The team has been truly amazing/supportive and gave me more freedom than I have ever experienced on a project. Walking into a completely built-out space that I designed was a surreal experience I hope can happen more often 😂. So much gratitude for Rowe, @restylesource @brandidentitypr @highpointmarket @coreindustries @reginaandrewdetroit @jaipurliving @shadowcatchers @cyandesignhome @amityhome @accentdecorinc @mitchell__black and @southernmimi55 + @joepigliacampo for keeping my babies safe and happy. @highpointmarket has been incredible and I’m honored to be doing this alongside @greyhuntinteriors + @frenchandfrenchinteriors (don’t worry I’ll be showing you their incredible spaces too!) . THANK YOU everyone this has been a dream✨💥💫🔮
A special tile moment in a shower niche
All the pretty materials we specified months ago are finally getting installed at our #musicalmountainhideaway for @brandybschultz + @wesleyschultz like these jammy zellige tiles from @cletile . This shower niche got an extra special magical tile moment courtesy of their travels through Turkey this summer 💫✨💥 such a cool team I’ve gotten to collaborate on this project with, truly a dream @conklin_architecture @eplordredesign @aarondunndesignbuild @simonefelicemusic
Terrazzo sets a new bathroom direction
Finally time to attack one of our wild bathrooms…with guests coming for the holidays and 2 showers out of commission we couldn’t wait any longer to get at least one of them up to speed. So pumped to have landed on this stunning terrazzo from @concretecollaborative - it’s going to totally transform this mid 90s dream shower into my version of an #ancientfuture sanctuary✨🪩🪴…follow along for progress later this month!
Subtracting an oversized ceiling fan
Another unfortunate ceiling fan has been put out of its misery thanx to @coreindustries … every day it gets just a little bit better around here.
